“Worry ends when faith in God begins.”
Prititit! Prititit! Prititit! The familiar throbbing of every Cebuanos’ hearts begins to be in action the moment these sounds of the whistle and beat come along together. Images of flashy garments, lively street dancing and intoxicating parties hover everybody’s mind. However, before this long awaited celebration comes to life, it is but proper to dig deep down on the real reason of this celebration – the miraculous image of the Child Jesus, Sr. Sto. Nino.
Before marching into the streets and getting wild with the upbeat music, we must never forget to render a visit to Basilica Minore del Sto. Nino; should it be possible, complete nine day novena mass in honor of the Holy Child. This is to further strengthen one’s faith through this communal Eucharistic Celebration celebrated by priest, bishops and cardinals all around the country and the world.
Unlike the Misa de Gallo, this novena is not as difficult to complete since the Eucharistic mass will be celebrated throughout the day. Schedule is as follows:
4:00am – 5:00am
5:30am – 6:30am
7:00am – 8:00am
8:30am – 9:30am
10:00am – 11:00am
1:00pm – 2:00pm
2:30pm – 3:30pm
4:00pm – 5:00pm
5:30pm – 6:30pm
7:00pm – 8:00pm
Should it also be difficult to join the mass, the Basilica is made available for church-goers 24/7. Make your faith grow stronger and nurture the gift of the Holy Spirit vested upon you. If other people from all nooks of the Earth were able to pay tribute and give praise and thanks to the holy image, why can’t you. Let’s celebrate and feast but don’t forget to attend the holy mass (we don’t know, the belief of making your wish come true upon completing the nine day novena might be true to you). Pit Senyor!
